Round 5 - Taupo - 10/11 February 2007

16 cars entered with Alan Duncan debuting his newly rebuilt Saker and Nigel Snow running his potent Nissan 300Z. A hot and sunny weekend with some great racing. Many members finding the slippery track a challenge with 6 cars having various spins (all without damage) at some point. Some making several as they enjoyed the new A1GP layout. See Race Results for more details. The final round at Easter is shaping up for a great end to this season

Round 4 - Pukekohe - 14 January 2007

See Race Results for more details.

Here is a response received by the Series Coordinator from Mike Dias after the weekend.

“Thanks for a great weekend, as a first time entrant in NZ Super Sedans I would to thank you and fellow Super Sedan members, I already knew a few of the other competitors before I joined the club but from the time I arrived on Friday until we left yesterday afternoon I was made welcome by everyone, the atmosphere was great and the racing was nice and clean, it is a great feeling to enter an event knowing that you will not be facing the possibility of a panelbeating bill at the end of it. I look forward to the next meeting in January.

Once again thanks for a great weekend.”

Round 2 - MG Whittakers

21 cars entered and 17 raced. Saturday was fine but Sunday was wet and spoilt what was shaping as a great weekend. Nevertheless a great time was had competing in trying conditions without major incident. Conrad Ekdah Commodore joined the series as did Bruce Goodwin Capri. See Race Results for more details.

Round 1 – Taupo Labour Weekend

21 cars entered for the weekend. The weather was kind for the Saturday and most of Sunday, with just the Rolling start race damp. See Race Results for full details.

Luke Youlden in the Powerbuilt Mustang put on a masterful display of driving powering the car to the limit to win the round and setting an untouchable 1.30.427 lap.

Ewan Scott made a debut in the fabulous Datsun after 4 years in the build and

Showed he was not afraid to push it hard. Grant Brennan also had the new Brennan Corvette turn its first wheel having been hastily readied to attend.

We welcomed Dean Evans in the Mazota who reveled in the damp track, and Andy Greenslade in the Camaro was back showing great pace. Paul Wilton had a new Commodore and Neil McCaull had made major changes to the HQ Holden.

Great News - we have a full series sponsor - Schaeffer Oil

Extract from Media Release:

Schaeffer Oil NZ Super Sedans Hit Taupo in October

The Schaeffer Oil NZ Super Sedan series is set to capture the attention of the public and motor racing enthusiasts when the 2006/2007 series commences at Taupo Raceway on 21 October. A relatively new class in New Zealand motor sport, the NZ Super Sedans offer a lightly regulated racing format contested by high performance, large capacity cars. From humble beginnings three years ago when two cars contested the inaugural race, the number of driving enthusiasts who compete this year will number forty, and is sure to produce a mouth-watering extravaganza of high-octane excitement.

Two rounds of the series will be televised events this season, which is testament to the increasing profile and popularity of the class. This profile has further benefited the series by attracting the attention of the new major sponsor, Schaeffer Oil, who will be the named sponsor for all six rounds of the coming series. NZ Super Sedans President, Grant Brennan, believes that a strong synergy exists with the new sponsor. “Schaeffer promote high quality racing oils that have been tested extensively against the leading existing products, will be used by many of the competitors in the series. Schaeffer Oil are genuine supporters of the series and their direct involvement in the sport can only be of benefit to the organisers and competitors involved”.

While Schaeffer Oil is relatively new inNew Zealand, the company has a proud history in motorsport in theStates which it plans to extend into local racing. “NZ Super Sedans is a perfect test environment for our high-performance racing products”, Schaeffer Oil (NZ) CEO Scott Bainbridge explains. “There is a huge variety of technically advanced and exotic engines racing in this class, with significant horsepower variations, which provides an opportunity for analysing racing oils across a broad spectrum of engines. While the primary markets for our products are in earthmoving, trucking and agriculture, our experience is that proving the quality of lubricants under the extreme duress of motor racing will only enhance the validity of the products in a commercial sector”.

With a great variation ofvehicles competing in the series a handicap system is used that sees the faster vehicles running from the rear of the grid. This ensures close and competitive racing, plenty of passing, and action-packed excitement to thrill the growing number of spectators.

Schaeffer Racing Oil can be supplied via Brennan Racing
